Step 4 of 5
What we keep to
Whatever the numbers become, the plan keeps to these. Every change to it is dated below, so nothing moves quietly.
- Users first
- Only an account that writes in Habitect can invest, so the owners are the people who use it.
- No one buys the round
- Every person has the same monthly cap, so the company is spread across many owners.
- Every share in the open
- The whole split is on these pages, and a share that is not settled yet says so.
- Owning is not running
- A share is a revenue share: it pays out as dividends from what Habitect earns, or when Habitect is sold. It gives no say in how Habitect is run.
- A plan, not an offer
- Nothing is sold or charged until deposits open, and changes to the plan are dated below.
How this plan came together
- First written down: if Habitect is ever sold or goes public, the people who built it share 10% and everyone else who invested shares the rest.
- The plan on this page: a small deposit to hold a pledge, a monthly cap, pledges pooled into SPVs, and every share shown in the open with worked examples.
- The 10% split marked as proposed until the founders set it, the employees' share worked out hire by hire, and the exit math written out.
- This page linked from About, with the policies above and this history.
- The plan split into steps you read in order: the overview, who owns what, the amounts, these policies, and how to take part and reach us.
- The proposed 10% split changed to 1% for each founder and for each of their parents, and the last 1% to noble causes.
- A share became a revenue share: it pays out as dividends from what Habitect earns, or when it is sold, and returns are worked from what Habitect pays out, not from a valuation.
